Environmental, aesthetic and financial concerns led Vila Viçosa's executive to opt for SOTKON Underground Container Solutions.
Initially, seven points in the historic center benefited from the installation of the so-called SOTKON "ecological islands", in a total of 28 units for the selective and undifferentiated deposition of waste.
Quoting the page of the municipality, "(...) this solution allows to increase and to make more flexible the capacity of deposition in relation to the battery of conventional surface containers. Also, to optimize the use of municipal resources in the collection of municipal solid waste and to improve urban hygiene conditions. In addition, this equipment is much more functional and holds a greater capacity of integration in the urban network, which favors the image of the village constituting a fast, efficient and hygienic collection system capable of maintaining a clean and pleasant environment. We must not forget that the underground equipment allows the waste to be deposited away from the view where the temperature is much lower than the surface. This means that the waste deterioration and the consequent emission of odors is delayed, thus translating into a better quality of life for the resident population and for all visitors to Vila Viçosa."
The installation of this equipment validates the effort of the municipality in the improvement of the image, hygiene conditions and sanitation in the city.
